Day four. We drove up to Keswick, where we stopped to eat our pasties. We sat by the lake, wishing we hadn't left our cameras in the car, as the view all around was lovely. We also giggled at a group of 'kids' out rowing on the lake. The fools were rowing backwards, struggling to push the blunt end of the boat through the water. They chanted 'Rooney, Rooney' as if it would bestow them with some magical resources of strength. It didn't.

We then drove through Whinlatter Pass to Lorton Vale and then to Loweswater. We checked into a hotel there, unpacked the car and cast a cursory glance over the bed to make sure that it was, indeed, a four poster. We also briefly checked the posts for sturdiness.

We set off to walk round Loweswater in the wrong direction. After getting halfway to Crummock Water, I whipped out my compass and triangulated like a badass. We turned round and were soon alongside the correct lake.
