I’m clearing out old bank statements. Apparently, keeping six years and three months of bank statements is a bit excessive.
When my father moved out of the family home in August 1987, he took boxes containing 18 years of bank statements with him. Sometimes I catch myself wondering whether he’s cleared them out since then; if not, he’ll have 35 years’ worth of bank statements.
Oh, and I should mention at this point that being notoriously, um, ‘careful’ with his money, he doesn’t have just one bank account. In 1987, he had at least three bank accounts (that we knew of). The mind doth boggle.
